Sanders Racing Stables     Sanders Racing Stables is situated in the Rosetown of New Zealand, Te Awamutu.  The stable is situated next to the Waipa Racecourse, where they have the use of well maintained facilities such as:  •4 Grass tracks •2 Plough tracks •2 sand tracks •a hill •large swimming pool •and scales etc Jump outs are held at the course regularly, so horses in training at the centre can gallop from starting stalls in a similar environment to real galloping on raceday.  The stable itself contains a covered barn capable of housing 50 horses. The trainer, Graeme Sanders, lives within earshot of this barn, so he is on the job 24 hours a day. There are also straw boxes and paddocks, so horses traveling away from home can be conditioned to live in their new environment , while on a racing campaign.  The stable is well serviced by three experienced vets and a very good blacksmith. Excellent agistment facilities are available just a 15 minute float trip to Oakfields in Cambridge, while horses take a spell from their training programs.  Every racehorse has its own individual program for its diet and carefully prepared training schedule.  Graeme Sanders has had a lot of success at carefully selecting promising yearlings at the National sales, and turning them into good thoroughbred racehorses.  A classic example of his talent in this area, was the purchase of the top weight in the 1995 Free Handicaps for two year olds, Ballroom Babe. The filly was purchased for $4,250 and won in excess of $300,000 in stakes.  The stable caters for individual, overseas and syndicate owners. All owners are kept well informed on the progress of their horses, and are welcome to visit their horses during the day and view them in training.  Graeme Sanders is currently working on his selections for the 1998 Yearling sales, held in January. These sales are a good time to purchase your thoroughbred for racing, or to sell on after trials or racing form to the lucrative overseas markets.  Becoming an owner of a racehorse may be a dream for many people because they think it is beyond their means. In New Zealand, the sport of Kings is not reserved just for the rich and famous. Anyone can own a racehorse if they want to. By forming a syndicate it can cost as little as $75 per week for a quarter share, to maintain the horses training over the year.  Capital investment does not need to be too high. Horses such as the dual Group One winning filly, Ballroom Babe, having been purchased for less than $5,000. Most of the stables purchases are in the $5,000 - $50,000 price range at the yearling sales.   Whether you want to own many horses or a small share, Sanders racing stables can help you to become an owner of a galloper partaking in the sport of Kings. Stallion Station    The Stallion Station   Established last year on a showplace property in Knights Road, Christchurch, the Stallion Stations innovative concept of supplying breeders semen from high quality stallions has proved a huge success story. In their first year of operation from a stable of seven quality stallions, they supplied semen for over 10 per cent of the mares bred in New Zealand during that season. With new-age headliners in the form of In The Pocket and Jaguar Spur creating huge demand and the very promising Sablevision and Chairmanoftheboard securing their future with promising N.Z. 2-year-old performers attracting much attention. The Stallion Station is also the home of the magnificently bred young trotting stallion, Armbro Invasion whose progeny have already reinforced the adage of "good horses come from good bloodline" with their performances on the track as two and three year olds.  Following their theme of innovation, the Stallion Station after being the first of its kind in New Zealand is now leading the way in being the first Harness Racing breeding establishment in the country to have its own web site. Noel and his team hope you find this site informative and enjoyable and if you have any thoughts or any further information that would be helpful drop us a line through our E-mail facility.
